Artist’s Statement
BLACK TO PLAY AND DRAW is an ongoing project in an attempt to locate the shift of origin for a dialogue. This installation works as one segment of the whole project. The work stands as a metaphor to Chess, and relates on a personal level to the context of position and power. The idea of stalemate (from chess), where both counterparts end as equals to start “new,” on equal grounds. This project develops itself into 10 stories from the 10 sculptures where the protagonist is missing. The objects in the sculptures then, get reduced to the idea of “props” for the stories.
